Welcome!
I’m Andrew Tobey, founder of Vermont Custom Nets. During three decades of professional net design and construction I developed a little motto:
“Everyone needs a net, but few know a net maker.”
Meet Vermont Custom Nets. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and repair nets primarily in sports applications. We offer quality knotless and knotted netting custom designed for fences, barriers, cages, sports goals, and practice nets. We do our best to build you exactly what you want – often nets are a simple matter to construct and install. Yet when challenged with a creative idea, application, or environment, we have the expertise and patience to construct something new that meets your specifications. That’s why we say, “We build on your ideas.”
Nets alone are often not the answer. We also provide custom vinyl and mesh curtains and pads, KwikGoal products, and Sport Court multi-sport surfaces to complete your design’s installation.
Customers that partner with Vermont Custom Nets receive a free consultation and a service visit within the first year from completion on large-scale projects. Thanks and we look forward to working with you.

Andrew Tobey began net design and building in Kitterey Point, Maine, with Tobey’s Net Shop in 1981. He received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University of Boston and began his career in fishing nets (IMP 360, IMP 420, New England Four-panel Trawl). In the mid-1980’s, he began specializing in ski area nets (Killington Ski Area, Vail, Attatash Mountain). He left the fishing industry in the mid-1990’s after he designed, built, and installed arena netting for Seacoast United Soccer Club. He then shifted his focus to sports nets for golf, soccer, baseball, and individual backyard sports. His more recent projects have included such diverse customers as the Vermont Lake Monsters (Burlington, VT semi-professional baseball team), Middlebury College, Golfsmith International, The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain, Babson College, and Hudson River Park Trust. He is the exclusive dealer for Sport Court products in Vermont and specializes in backyard game courts and nets.
